Hydrogen Embrittlement Mechanism of Ultrafine-grained Iron with Different Grain Sizes

چکیده
To investigate the effect of grain sizes on hydrogen embrittlement 4N-purity iron, miniature tensile tests were conducted after charging for ultrafine-grained specimens produced by high-pressure torsion and subsequent annealing. Hydrogen indexes defined from reduction area increased with decreasing size, shear-type fracture occurred fine dimples surface diagonally raptured specimen a smaller size. The formation growth microvoids at triple junctions boundaries ahead propagated cracks responsible such earlier because necking between adjacent more likely extensively occurred. In larger or without charging, other hand, local coalescence predominant due to longer distances junctions, resulting in void coalescence-type coarser dimple patterns. Therefore, atoms introduced are considered enhance deformation-induced vacancies finer

Special Grain Boundaries in Ultrafine-Grained Tungsten
Field ion microscopy and computer simulation were used for the study of an atomic structure high-angle grain boundary in hard-drawn ultrafine-grained tungsten wire. These boundaries with special misorientations are beyond the scope of the coincident site lattice model. It was demonstrated that the special non-coincident grain boundaries are the plane-matching boundaries, and rigid-body displace...
متن کاملEFFECT OF AUSTENITE GRAIN MORPHOLOGY ON VARIANT SELECTION OF MARTENSITE TRANSFORMED FROM ULTRAFINE-GRAINED AUSTENITE
In this research, variant selection of martensite transformed from ultrafine-grained (UFG) austenite fabricated by accumulative roll bonding (ARB) process and subsequent annealing was investigated with respect tomorphology of parentaustenitic phase. The results show that the original shape of austenite grain is very effective factor in determiningthe preferred variants of martensite transformed...
متن کاملHydrogen embrittlement of grain boundaries in nickel: an atomistic study
The chemomechanical degradation of metals by hydrogen is widely observed, but not clearly understood at the atomic scale. Here we report an atomistic study of hydrogen embrittlement of grain boundaries in nickel. All the possible interstitial hydrogen sites at a given grain boundary are identified by a powerful geometrical approach of division of grain boundary via polyhedral packing units of a...
متن کاملPhotovoltaic Performance of Perovskite Solar Cells with Different Grain Sizes.
Perovskite solar cells exhibit improved photovoltaic parameters with increasing perovskite grain size. The larger photocurrent is due to the enhanced absorption efficiency for thicker perovskite layers. The larger open-circuit voltage (VOC ) is ascribed to the reduced trap-assisted recombination for the larger grains. As a result, the power conversion efficiency exceeds 19% at best. Further imp...
متن کاملDynamic observations of deformation in an ultrafine-grained Al–Mg alloy with bimodal grain structure
The tensile properties and deformation response of an ultrafine-grained (UFG) Al–Mg alloy with bimodal grain structure were investigated using a micro-straining unit and a strain mapping technique. Atomized Al 5083 powder was ball-milled in liquid N2 to obtain a nanocrystalline (NC) structure, then blended with 50 wt.% unmilled coarse-grained (CG) powder, and consolidated to produce a bimodal g...
